VISIT THE ARTIST'S WORKSHOP

We visited Kasper Jacek as he is creating new works of art and wanted to play with our collection of frames, Frameless .

The FRAMELESS collection is frames made of acrylic, the front is clear and the back is lightly colored - the frames form a passe-partout around the motif and let light and shadow play with the art that is inserted.

CURIOUS ABOUT THE FRAMELESS COLLECTION, SEE THEM ALL HERE

FROM WRITING TO PAINTING

Kasper is inspired by places and the history of places. That it was just paintings and collages that became his path is a bit of a coincidence. Through his work as a journalist, places and the history of places have always filled a lot. Kasper is inspired by things from nature, which over time have acquired a cultural history with them. Art was another way to explore this fascination together with his journalism and research. He is fascinated and inspired, among other things, by old bricks that have washed up on the beach, a piece of metal with traces of use or soil in the field that has been turned over and filled with stones.

"I always work to create works where the stories of the past, present and future entangle themselves in and out of each other. With the transparent paper and the frames from Studio About, I can create collage works where the different layers or similitudes of time can be present at the same time , because the layers are made visible, depending on what light comes through the works."

COLLAGE TECHNIQUE AND TRANSPARENCY

Kasper started by making linoleum prints, but is working more towards art made up of collage techniques. The depth that several layers of material can create in combination with individual monotype prints gives the works texture and materiality.

"I often work with shadows and shadow figures, and then I try to make objects that are both present and not present at the same time in my works. With the transparent layers, I can put motifs in between the layers so that they are both there and are not there at the same time. They appear in some of the works as a shadow and in others as a faint hint of something hiding behind the upper layer." "In a few of the works, I have made monotypes with a kind of cornfield as a motif, where I have printed the same motif twice and glued it together slightly offset, so that you get a sense of movement when the work is illuminated"

SHADOWS AND TRANSPARENCY

The idea of transparent frames and free-hanging drawings is often used in architecture and art exhibitions, where the boards become a spatial element and an active player in the room's architecture. With the Frameless collection, we can detach the frames from the wall and thus give the opportunity to hang them freely in the room, which the artist Kasper also sees as an absolute advantage.

"The colors of the frames can give the works different moods. I often work with landscapes and places that are illuminated by a certain type of light such as dusk, a cloudy sky or a landscape that is burned by the sun. The colors of the frames can help to strengthen the moods in the works - and a work can change mood with a change of frame."

HISTORY AND CREATIVE DESIRE

Kasper dreams of art, compositions and techniques. He has only worked with art for 3 years, but dreams of even more time in the workshop. He is eager, productive and his works exude an energy that needs to be released. Kasper uses material that is available and which are not necessarily expensive materials, but quite often things that others simply see as waste.

"Everything has a story, stones, soil and old things exude history. I try to avoid people in my paintings and collages, but instead create a story through the materials I use ." "...that's why I also came home with a pile of stones instead of freshly caught fish the last time I went on a fishing trip."

LIFE AS AN ENTREPRENEUR

It is the desire to tell stories and create something with his hands that is the primary engine for his entrepreneurship.

In the beginning he created works for his own sake, but he has started to consider his audience and the viewer more in the works, and in this way the approach and the end result also change. When you want to tell, there must be an audience, it requires that you also listen to those who will buy the art.

Therefore, he also took it as a positive challenge to create art with a focus on the frame collection Frameless from Studio About - here he has aimed to reach a slightly wider audience and create art for the frame and focus on the frame's properties.
