Pliers in frames? Yes, it is good enough. You might not think about it when you walk on the beach, but seaweed is incredibly decorative with beautiful details and shades of color. In addition, many seaweed plants change color when they come into contact with oxygen.
Nature offers so much beauty, and it's fantastic that you can take a small piece home with you on the wall. Here, Kristina Sørensen from Labdecor.dk gives tips for drying seaweed in our FRAMELESS frames. The dried seaweed takes on some amazing fluorescent colors, and it is obvious to enjoy them as art on the wall or in the window.
HOW TO DRY SEAWEED PLANTS
- Gather a small bag of wet seaweed. It must be wet, otherwise it will break in the frame.
- Separate the plants and rinse the seaweed plants free of dirt and small animals
- Let the seaweed drip off - it should still be damp when you put it in the frame.
- Place the seaweed plants in a transparent frame
- Put the frame in the window in a sunny place and let the plants dry
- Tighten the screws as the clamp dries to prevent it from sliding down.
Seaweed has a rather strong smell that doesn't disappear just like that, and therefore you can consider doing the project in a greenhouse. But it is now also exciting to have the frames with seaweed standing in the window, so that you can follow the wild change, where the seaweed changes color as it dries.
It takes approx. 2-3 days to dry seaweed in the frames.
CREATE A VISUAL EFFECT ON THE WALL, IN THE WINDOW OR FREE HANGING IN THE ROOM
The FRAMELESS frames are made of acrylic and consist of a transparent front and a transparent colored back, which form a beautiful and discreet passepartout around your artwork. The collection invites you to open the creative floodgates and work with collages, photos and works of art in abstract forms and in new hangings where transparency is exploited.
The small DIY dried seaweed artwork hangs beautifully in a window, but is also beautiful on the picture wall with your other personal artwork.
