GLASS, OIL CANDLES, is a modern interpretation of the classic wax candle and is designed by architect Mikkel Lang Mikkelsen. The glass candles can be used again and again, simply by refilling lamp oil continuously. Wicks and a funnel for filling oil are included.
The glass candle is available here in transparent and, with its simple expression, is an exciting alternative to the classic white candle.
The glass candles have the same dimensions as a regular wax candle, and you will be able to use the glass candle in all standard candlesticks. The small rubber ring at the bottom of the candle ensures that the candle is stable in the candlestick.
PURCHASE IN SETS OF 2
This transparent glass light package includes:
2 glass candles, 21 cm.
Oil filling funnel.
4 wicks (burning time approx. 1000 hours per piece).
MOUTH-BLOWN GLASS LIGHT
The mouth-blown candles are made of borosilicate glass, which is also used to produce laboratory equipment. This type of glass is made to withstand large temperature fluctuations and you never have to worry that the glass will become too hot.
In addition, the glass is also scratch-resistant, so the glass will stay nice for a long time.
If you need to clean the glass candle, you can simply wash it with hot or boiling water with a little liquid soap.
DECORATE WITH GLASS LIGHT
The glass candles burn beautifully and evocatively on a dark evening but are also decorative as part of the decor where the sunlight will reflect in the glass. Put the glass candles in a small still life with knick-knacks and second-hand finds and enjoy them as part of your decor.
As the glass candles are the same size as ordinary wax candles, you can put the glass candles in your favourite candlesticks, be it your vintage candlesticks in brass or in the classic cube candlestick.
BURNING TIME AND LAMP OIL
Oil and wicks have a great influence on the burning time, so we have tested different lamp oils, to find the best suitable oil for these glass candles.
We recommend that you use Alaska lamp oil. This oil is a common lamp oil, which is odour- and soot-free. The choice of oil matters a great deal as it has a great influence on how and how long the candles burn.
Alaska oil is good for indoor use and can be purchased where you normally buy lamp oil.
A filled light can burn for about 5-8 hours continuously, depending on the type of oil.
However, you should be aware that glass candles are not made of wax, meaning that the flame will never be as large as on an ordinary wax candle.
When approx. is 3-4 cm of oil is left in your glass candle, the flame will be smaller as the wick has difficulty absorbing the oil due to the design of the candle.
Simply add lamp oil to your glass candle after use. This way you ensure that the wick and flame bring you the best result. It is important that you never split the wicks as the oil light will burn significantly worse. There are always 4 wicks in a pack of 2 candles.
HOW TO FILL UP OIL
Leave the wick in the small glass tube.
Fill with oil using the small funnel provided.
Dab the top of the wick with a drop of oil from the funnel. Let 3-5 mm wick peek up to the flame.
The light is usually switched off by blowing or using a light extinguisher.
