Play with light, shadow and simple design in your interior design. Recently, Studio About launched a delicious collection of transparent frames called FRAMELES S.

In this connection, it was obvious to find something elegant, different and a little quirky to put in the frame, and therefore we reached out to the talented paper artist @LittleDetroit and asked if she would design paper art for us. This has resulted in a whole PAPERCUT collection, paper cuts where colours, light and shadow are the focus and which compliment the light frames perfectly.

Read along here in the article, where Little Detroit talks about his inspiration and urge to create.

littledetroit PAPER CLIP

"It was a bit of a coincidence that I started making paper cuts, since I have actually been painting and drawing for many years. But one day I sat and played with it at home, and then I was quickly taken by the process of sit and cut. It quickly caught on, I had many different motifs created and created an Instagram profile, where I got a really good response from the start."

The paper clips were designed by Little Detroit for Studio About. They are delivered in a nice flat envelope made of strong cardboard and can therefore be easily transported without breaking.

INSPIRATION AND PATTERNS

"I am inspired almost everywhere I go or look, but especially on my daily walks in nature, I find a lot of inspiration. It can be shadows from the trees, the shapes of the leaves or the waves of the lake. In addition, I also use my trips to clear my head, so I work more efficiently.”

The inspiration from Christine's walks is not transferred 1:1, but creates a foundation for the paper clips themselves.

DRAWING WITH A SCALPEL

“I usually don't draw my motifs and patterns before I start, so making a papercut is actually a very free and organic process for me. I just put the scalpel on the paper and let it lead the way. Sometimes I have a vague idea of the subject, but most of the time I work completely intuitively."

STUDIO ABOUT X LITTLE DETROIT

"A match made in heaven" - says Christine behind Little Detroit and we, Studio About, completely agree.

The new FRAMELESS frames are obvious to use for paper cutting, as the frame's transparency and size give the paper cuttings air and the opportunity to play with shadows. The graphic paper cut comes into its own when the light can shine through the neatly executed patterns.

Frames and paper clips come in standard sizes A5, A4, A3, A2 and B2 - in addition, two round frames and 4 cool round paper clips have been designed.

PAPER CLIPS IN COLORS

Little Detroit plays with colored paper clips and experiments with the expression of colors. A paper clip changes expression depending on whether it is blue, green or yellow. That's why the PAPERCUTS LITTLE DETROIT X STUDIO ABOUT collection also consists of paper clips in different colors, so you can choose the one that best suits your home.

PICTURE WALL WITH A TWIST

"I think the transparent frames are so beautiful and help to give the traditional picture wall a twist. I have used them both where they are allowed to hang on their own, but also in conjunction with other wooden frames on a picture wall. I will be moving soon and am looking forward to being allowed to decorate with the nice frames. I also have plans for one of the round ones to hang freely in the room and decorate as a disturbance". DECOR AND UNIQUE FINDINGS

"Art is a huge part of me and my home, and there is hardly a wall in my home where some art does not hang" . At the home of the paper cutting designer Christine, there is also a lot of other art than that in the frames. She loves going to flea markets and finding quirky figures and shapes that give the interior a unique touch.

STUDIO ABOUT AND THE THOUGHTS BEHIND PAPERCUTS

The launch of PAPERCUTS comes as a follow-up to our collection of FRAMELESS - a series of transparent acrylic picture frames. The frames consist of front and back in transparent acrylic. The back is colored but toned down, so it forms a beautiful and discreet passepartout that highlights your art. The front is transparent and has a sun filter that protects your art. Therefore, the frames are also obvious to use in the window, where the sunlight will shine through and form shadows.

The elegant PAPERCUTS are perfect in the frames, as the light will play with the silhouettes and the cut-out fields.
