2021 will be kicked off in the best way with the launch of our new collection FRAMELESS - a series of transparent acrylic picture frames. The frames consist of front and back in transparent acrylic. The back is colored but toned down, so it forms a beautiful and discreet passepartout that highlights your art.
The FRAMELESS collection was designed by architect Mikkel Lang Mikkelsen, who found inspiration in the old well-known changing frames; " I have always loved the old frameless changing frames with clips. They have a nice immediate functionality, a simple construction and a raw aesthetic. The concept holds, but time may have run out from the design. At the same time, the frame's front/back construction places some limitations on use, which we would like to challenge ", says Mikkel.

The idea of transparent frames and free-hanging drawings is often used in architecture and art exhibitions, where the boards become a spatial element and an active player in the room's architecture.
With the FRAMELESS collection, we can detach the frames from the wall and thus provide the opportunity to hang them freely in the room. " We have tried to find a simple but aesthetic solution that facilitates the function of the frame and at the same time provides new possibilities for the use of the object ", says Mikkel.
PICTURE FRAMES IN (ALMOST) ALL SIZES
The FRAMELESS series is launched in many standard sizes and you can therefore explore both A5, A4, A3, A2 and poster size 50x70 cm frames. As always, we appreciate the quirky and different, and you will therefore also find a circular frame in the collection. You can use an A4 poster in the round frame, but it also invites you to open the creative floodgates and work with collages, photos and works of art in abstract forms and in new hangings where transparency is used.
“ I hope that we will see completely new and surprising suspensions that we could not have imagined. As I said, the frames provide new opportunities to occupy the rooms and not just the surfaces of the rooms. In addition, I hope that we will see hangings in front of windows, and I can reveal that we are working on a series of art prints which support the idea of a directionless frame that can be experienced from both sides ", says Mikkel.
We have a basic mantra of inspiring our users, which we always try to enforce in everything we do. The Frameless collection will be another creative element that you can challenge and make your own.

ACRYLIC FRAMES IN THE COLORS OF THE RAINBOW
At Studio About, we cannot avoid our great love of colour. With the FRAMELESS collection, we can highlight our artwork, work with contrasts and create a visual effect on the wall, in the window or free-hanging in the room.
The FRAMELESS frames are made of acrylic and consist of a transparent front and a transparent colored back. “ With the properties we were looking for in the design, acrylic was an obvious choice of material. It is a durable material and can be cut into all imaginable shapes. At the same time, it is light and allows you to work with colors. We have tried to challenge all these properties and exploit the potential that the material offers. We have, among other things, developed 7 custom colors for our initial collection and expect to develop both shapes and colors further in future collections ", says Mikkel.
If you have not yet taken the leap to decorate with colours, the colored picture frames can be an easy place to start and you will quickly experience the effect the colors have on your home and your interior design.
We are sure that the colored frames are here to stay. And actually not just the colored frames, but also frames in new shapes and patterns, hand-decorated frames and new ways of working with passepartout - just like we do in the FRAMELESS collection, where the frame becomes part of the artwork and a way to create a personal expression around his art.
The acrylic frames are available in blue, pink, purple, amber, smoky, transparent and in a beautiful earth tone.
