Flowers create life and joy. The days have become shorter and darker, and therefore we should not cheat ourselves for a little splash of color in the decor - on the contrary, now is the time to have a little extra fun.
Here we give our take on our Christmas favorites and how we style them with our vases.
POPULAR CHRISTMAS FLOWERS

There are many beautiful so-called "Christmas" flowers and plants, one new favorite that has had a bit of a renaissance with us is the classic poinsettia.
THE CHRISTMAS STAR
Everyone knows the classic poinsettia, with its dark green leaves and deep red flowers. It is loved, but certainly also hated by many. Some cannot imagine a Christmas without the poinsettia, while others can almost be disgusted by the sight. However, we think it deserves another chance and by being styled in a different way than in a flower pot, it becomes really cool to look at. The poinsettia is available in a multitude of colors in addition to the classic red. You can get them in pure white, over to the powder-coloured and more orange versions.
FUN FACTS ABOUT THE CHRISTMAS STAR _ LOVED AND HATED
- Did you know that the poinsettia is originally from Mexico? And that it grows like a bush that can be up to 4 meters tall?
- The poinsettia, together with Christmas trees, is a Danish export adventure, and although production is slightly declining, we produce around 7-8 million poinsettias in the Danish nurseries.
- In Denmark alone, around 1.5 million poinsettias are sold and 9 out of 10 of them are the red variety.
Besides the poinsettia, these flowers are also favorites with us in the cold, dark months. We enjoy them indoors in vases without soil, which gives them a different and lighter expression. They are also beautiful on a set Christmas table and as part of your Christmas decorations.
CHRISTMAS ROSES AND STYLING
When you buy the poinsettias, they are often in a plastic pot with soil. This way the plant lasts a little longer, but we like to have them in water. Poinsettia is also difficult to keep alive in a pot, as it is a bit delicate and does not like it either too wet or too dry, too cold or too hot. We have therefore cut off the flowers and freed them from the ground.

Hyacinth, Hyacinthus orientalis:
The majestic and strongly scented onion plant can be bought in all supermarkets from mid-October to March in several colours. The hyacinth bulb is large and if you buy with a flower bud, you will already be able to enjoy the sight of the beautiful flower and fragrance after a few days. Indoor hyacinths can be enjoyed with or without soil.
Tulips, Tulipa :
Depending on the species, they bloom from March to May outdoors, but at the end of November and into January, you can buy sprouting bulbs from your florist and enjoy the sight either indoors or in a pot outdoors. Indoor tulip bulbs can be enjoyed with or without soil. Put your tulip bulb in a vase, where the water just covers the roots and you can admire the bulb's beautiful shape.
Amaryllis, Hippeastrum:
Already at the end of September, you can buy amaryllis bulbs, place them on a warm windowsill and follow the inspiring development from tuber to lavish plant. Amaryllis range from white/cream to many varieties of pink to clear and deep red. Water only in the saucer until the flower bud emerges. When the flower bud is ready, you can water for the first time, after that you wait again with watering until the flower bud "bursts". You can also buy beautiful Amaryllis as cut stems, they are perfect in a large vase like our Bubble Tube.
Christmas rose, Helleborus:
The incredibly beautiful Christmas roses are available in many variations and colors. If you have Christmas roses in the garden and would like to put some in a vase, follow these steps, as it is a bit difficult. Put water in your vase, take the vase out to the plant you want to cut. Cut off a flower, make a cut in the stem with a pin and immediately place it in the vase. Please keep the vase cool for the first day, that way you extend its life and the Christmas roses can stay nice for 5 days in the living room.
Be careful of the juice of the Christmas rose, it is poisonous - so use gloves if you are cutting into vases.
FLOWERS AND COLD
When it's cold outside and you have to transport your plants/flowers home, it's good to protect them a little from the cold, this extends their lifespan. Your poinsettia is not suitable for drafts and cold, so buy some that have been in the store.
Buy your flowers when they are not in full bloom, the lifespan is longer if the buds are not fully burst.

EASY CHRISTMAS FLOWERS
If you think that there is enough to look forward to in November/December with Christmas baking, gifts and the like, which must be combined with a busy everyday life, you can instead choose to use dried flowers or paper flowers in your vases and as a breath of fresh air your decor.
